Important Note: Returning bulk beef customers: some details and information are new for 2024, please make sure to read carefully and email if you have any questions. We are so excited to offer wonderful grass-fed cattle again this year in our bulk beef program. We are bringing them in as stockers to finish on pasture right here on Joe’s Farm. We have opened up our 2024 Beef Shares! Below you will find some bullet point details. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions to info@joesfarm.us. We are happy to answer any and all questions!
How It Works
We raise you amazing cattle all summer long, letting them enjoy fresh grass every day and right here in Three Rivers, MI. Our cattle are grass-fed, grass-finished. We use rotational grazing and move our cattle to fresh pasture frequently. This is to ensure our cattle are getting nutrient dense forage while also increasing the health of our pastures. We also provide our cattle a free choice mineral box. This allows them to consume minerals as they need that they are not able to get from the natural forage.
In the fall, we will bring our cattle to the processor (Byron Center Meats). They will reach out to you about a week before processing for your custom cut order. You can also go to their website anytime and select your options (Beef Processing Order - Byron Center Meats)
After processing, you can choose to pick up your beef at Byron Center Meats or at Joe's Farm. We are raising Black Angus (a larger breed) for our beef share program again this year. In light of our extreme transparency here at Joe’s Farm we want you to know that these cattle did receive one dose of “Bovi-Shield Gold FP5 VL5 Cattle Vaccine”. No other vaccines or antibiotics have or will be used. That's why sharing this and giving as much data as we can allows for transparency which is so important to us at Joe’s Farm. We strive for excellence and practices that are the best for the animals in our care and the customers we serve. Our goal is to eventually grow our herd so that we can ensure they are vaccine and antibiotic free.
Price
These prices are THE SAME as 2023!! We charge by hanging pound. The price is based on whole, half or quarter options. A whole beef will finish at about be 500-600 pounds. You pay processing separately which is about $0.65 per hanging pound depending on your cuts and packaging (such as having some made into burger patties). Your deposit will be deducted from your total at the time of pick up.
Half: $6.20 per pound hanging weight plus a $80 kill fee. After processing, it should come out to about $9.80- $9.90 per packaged pound. (deposit: $350)
Example of the cost and cuts:
Quarter Beef Share Example: a quarter beef is $6.50/lb hanging weight. If the cattle finishes out at 500, that would come out to 125/lbs per quarter hanging weight. The amount due to our farm would be $812.50. Processing costs are $.65/lb. This can vary slightly (for example there is an extra charge for burger patties) but Bryon Center Meats will talk through all of that during your cuts selection. They also add a $40 kill fee for the quarter beef. Assuming no selections were made that require an extra fee, the amount for this example quarter beef would be $121.25. That would make the total due for this $933.75. Because the hanging weight is more than what it comes out to as packaged weight, we give an example of approximately how much you would pay per pound for the number of pounds received. For a Quarter share, that ends up being about $10.25-$10.35 per pound. For an example of what to expect for cuts, please send us an email at info@joesfarm.us. We have an informational graphic from our processor that helps guide customers through their options.
Do you offer a payment plan? Yes, we do offer a no-interest payment plan. Please email for more details!
